I can understand how hard it is for you to keep creating content. It feels like thinking of a long-form idea, and then immediately planning multiple short-form videos just to get fast, short-term views.
But what if I told you that you can create one long-form piece of content for your website and YouTube channel, and then turn it into multiple short-form assets to save your time and effort?
Let me explain what I mean exactly.
Text: Aside from your website, platforms like LinkedIn, X, and Threads prefer text-based versions.
Video: Audiences are shifting heavily toward video, so you will need video versions of the content you plan for the week or month.
Image: Well this one is good but if you are doing video then you can save yourself on those until you just want to quickly share an event, vacation picture or something for your personal branding. These work best when you use them with your text based post like a supporting reference, proof of what you wrote, keep the context strong or show carousels.
The foundation of content usually begins from a website blog because that is where you ultimately want your customers to land. Instead of writing three short, fluffy posts a week, try to invest that energy into one detailed and deeply researched article.
You should even spend a few minutes interviewing the lead engineers to understand the real edge cases, system bugs, or deployment challenges your team actually solved. Make sure to add anonymized internal benchmarks or performance data too, because Google gives more importance to real experiences. This single piece will become your core search asset, full of genuine information gain that technical leaders will want to bookmark, share internally, and engage with.
Now, there is nothing wrong with creating a video version of that same long-form content you made. There are a lot of people who are not into reading or do not have time to do so which is why they prefer a narrative version of the same where someone can speak out for them. But try to put a little effort into it.
Once you create a full long-form version of your video, you can put it on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, or any other preferred platform.
Now that you have your blog and video finished, you have all the raw materials you need for your weekly social media presence, to which you will be redirecting the user.
Now, go back to the text version (the blog) and look for 2 to 3 subtopics you can create separate posts out of.
You can pull out a primary conversion mistake and turn it into a quick text post.
Take the engineering interview tips and format them into a clear 4-step list.
Share a single sharp insight instead of a wall of text.
Well, these things are up to you. Put these small short-form texts onto your social media handles. Preferably go for LinkedIn, Twitter / X, and Threads, since they are the ones where audiences prefer text content. Oh, and Substack too is a great target platform.
As soon as your long video is done, you have two options. Either you make cutouts from that same video to create short-form content, or you record a few short-form videos covering the subtopics you talked about in the main video.
From those short videos, the audience can go to your long video to learn things in detail. But again, for each short clip, do not forget a good hook and a little clean editing. As a reference, you can check out my video editing portfolio posted on LinkedIn. Yes, I know video editing lol, and I will share my secret recipe someday. Okay, back to the post now.
Here is the content planning strategy I exactly use at MSC Writing Solutions. You just have to copy and paste the same for 52 weeks and boom you have a whole year of content plan ready for you. You can also add columns for your descriptions or text posts so that you can see literally everything from here only. The resource is available for free.

Yes, this was it. I know it sounds absolutely simple, but when you step into implementing it, you might feel out of ideas, lack time, or just might not want to do those complex tasks on your own.
But worry not. You can always drop an email to me and spark a productive discussion around it. Maybe I can help you build your content strategy.
